Hackers and fraudster can be tracked through the eGov mobile application

Each year in Kazakhstan, more than a thousand information systems are exposed to hacker attacks, including government agencies. Now, it will be possible to track what kind of data is available to hackers and fraudsters using the eGov Mobile application.

Currently, Information Security Committee under MDDIAI RK, Center for Analysis and Investigation of Cyber Attacks, Zerde Holding and National Information Technologies JSC work through an initiative to notify citizens of the country on what kind of data is available to hackers and fraudsters through the eGov mobile application.

A message will be sent to a user's personal account in the eGov mobile app in case of illegal collection and leakages of personal data on the websites are detected. The launch is planned for the end of 2022.

«Not all Kazakhstani citizens comprehend how hackers, fraudsters or competitors can use personal data in a dishonest way. Our goal is to inform and warn users through the eGov mobile app on the leakage of their passwords and data in order to protect users from plausible negative consequences as much as possible and jointly solve the task," said Rostislav Konyashkin, Chairman of the Board, National Information Technologies JSC.

It should be reminded that in 2021, NIT JSC has joined the national program for ensuring the security of services and applications – Bug Bounty. Based on the results of piloting by Bug Bounty independent cybersecurity researchers from more than 10 countries, about 56 vulnerabilities of e-Government were discovered (eGov.kz Portal) and eliminated by employees of National Information Technologies JSC and Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
