President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev participated in the launch of a supercomputer

The Head of State visited the National Supercomputing Center Alemcloud, where he took part in the launch ceremony of a supercomputer based on NVIDIA H200 graphics processing units.

The new computing cluster boasts record-breaking performance for the region, reaching approximately 2 exaflops (using the FP8 methodology). This makes the supercomputer the most powerful IT solution in Central Asia.

The infrastructure is housed in a state-of-the-art Tier III data center, ensuring high reliability and uninterrupted system operation.

“The launch of the national supercomputing center is a strategic step in strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty. We are creating the conditions for developing an artificial intelligence ecosystem capable of competing on a global scale” emphasized the Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry.

During the presentation, the Head of State was shown domestic AI solutions developed using the resources of the new supercomputer. These include AlemLLM, a large Kazakh language model, an early forest fire detection system, as well as innovative projects in medicine, construction, and education.
With the launch of the supercomputer, Kazakhstan now, for the first time, provides broad access to high-performance computing for startups developing neural network solutions, universities, research centers, as well as government and private companies.

This event marks a new chapter in the development of digital technologies, big data, and artificial intelligence, enabling Kazakhstan to strengthen its position as a technological leader in the region.
