KAZAKHSTAN – KOREA: COOPERATION IN e-GOVERNMENT

On April 24, 2017 in Astana, the meeting was held between representatives from Kazakhstan and Korea on issues related to cooperation in e-Government. The Republic of Korea’s delegation led by Vice Minister of Public Administration and Internal Affairs Song Reol Kim was met by Kazakhstani delegation that was headed by Minister of Information and Communication, Republic of Kazakhstan Dauren Abayev.

Last Friday in Astana, the Round Table was held, where training the IT professionals was discussed. The event hosted by National Information Technologies JSC was attended by vice-rectors and deans of Kazakhstan’s lead universities. To obtain a certificate of no criminal record on the e-Government portal, one does not have to have digital signature. A Kazakhstan citizen will be able to obtain it using a one-time SMS password that will come to the service recipient’s mobile phone during authorization process on theegov.kz portal.

11 years ago, on April 12, 2006, the e-Government portal eGov.kz was launched in Kazakhstan. Year after year, new services appear on the portal making easier the document obtainment procedure. Currently, over 700 services are rendered via the e-Government infrastructure.  Throughout this period, over 168 million services have been provided to citizens via eGov.

Extending digital signature validity is possible online

Digital signature can be re-issued online without a citizen’s visiting Government for Citizens Public Corporation branch (CSC). The service is available on the website of National Certification Authority of the Republic of Kazakhstan, www.pki.gov.kz.

It is significant that reissuance of a digital signature in this way is only possible prior to expiry thereof. Otherwise, user will have to apply to Citizen Service Center (CSC).

Extending the digital signature validity is quite easy, with the procedure taking no longer than 5 minutes.
